World War Two.
The world war two had started in Europe but expanded all over the world quickly. It even happened in japan. When japan decided to attack pearl harbor in Hawaii.
When japan decided to declare war and bomb pearl harbor we had plans. one of them as people know was Hiroshima. however there was another plan to invade. |
Should the united states have used an atomic bomb on japan?
"Little Boy" bomb below- The bomb "Fat Man" down below-
Operation Downfall
Operation downfall was a mission planned out to invade japan. It would have taken a few years just like the bomb had an definitely would have been more effective. The reason it would be more effective is that the casualty rate of civilians and innocent people wouldn't be so high. "Little Boy" had casualty's between 65,000 to 200,000 civilian people. http://www.warbirdforum.com/hirodead.htm "Fat Man" killed 40,000 people. It missed its target by a mile but still caused tremendous damage. By the end of that year the death count went up to 70,000 people because of the radiation.

If america decided to invade instead of bomb you can believe innocent civilians lives would've been saved.

although the probability of the Japanese fighting back was high we still would have gotten them by surprise. We would have had the upper hand and then lots of lives wouldn't be lost. Although this is my opinion on the matter, doesn't mean its true.
The bombing of Hiroshima seen in a different light?
http://thediplomat.com/2014/08/how-hiroshima-and-nagasaki-saved-millions-of-lives/ ~ by Zachery Keck~suggests that the bombing of Hiroshima was in a sense "good". The situation of "little Boy" and "Fat Man"..."were indeed tragedies" when President Harry Truman's decision to use the atomic bomb most certainly "saved lives". He believes that if america didn't use the atomic bombs then a lot more lives would be lost with the plans of invasion. (that's if you believe in the u.s leaders arguments at the time.)

Answer to the main question-
In some light yes we should have bombed japan. The argument could be debated as right and wrong.
some believe that if we invaded, then japan would have lost more lives than if we had bombed them and vise verse. There is really no good or correct answer. Its on how you perceive it.
